Introduction to The Browse Area

MagicViewer's image browser makes working with image files easy by presenting them as thumbnails. It allows you to organize files, batch process, email photos, and publish your images to the Web.

You can customize the browser display by changing the thumbnail size, setting the option to display file names, and specifying whether you want to display files in all subfolders of the current folder.

To change the thumbnail size, choose the menu View > Thumbnail Size, then select one from the four supported sizes from 80 by 80 to 160 by 160 pixels. You can toggle the option to turn the file name display on and off by selecting View > Display Filenames. Turning off the file name display will make room to display more thumbnails in the window.

Choose View > Display Images in Subfolders to scan subfolders under the current folder and display all image files in the current folder and all subfolders at once. However, turning this option on may slow loading the thumbnails if you have a deep folder hierarchy. You can stop scanning files and loading thumbnails at any time by pressing the stop button on the toolbar.

Many operations in the image browser, such as Cut, Copy and Paste, require that you select one or more files. To do so:

  1. Click a thumbnail to select that file
  2. Hold down the Ctrl or Shift key while clicking to select multiple files

Once files have been selected, they can be cut and copied to the Clipboard and pasted into another folder. Or you can drag and drop the files to a new folder location, or to another application to open them.
